I wanted to publish this one in time for a week’s long rain. It’s been a tad busy, and being in front of a screen so much had moved me to me go back to using Chinese ink and rice paper.
Thank you for your patience - all your lovely questions will be answered next!
Thank you so much for your incredible patience, time and kind words!
The piece I made for you is an interesting one.
At the time I was feeling ‘stuck in-between places’: being in a space I am familiar with, but also yearning to break out and explore. I wasn’t satisfied the rough sketches I’ve come up with, and my pieces felt repetitive.
I appreciate you, and you definitely deserve more than that!
I want to be able to allow people to escape to another place, and possibly connect with their emotions in some way.
I really hope you like this!

Some extra words:
I reconnected with Chinese ink recently. I’ve actually had some training in Chinese painting and Chinese calligraphy growing up, but haven’t devoted myself to it until it now.
I love the spontaneity and the textures ink creates. It was a way to free myself form a place I felt trapped in. This is an element my work had recently lacked because of how controlled I’ve become, and I have to be honest, I don’t like it at all!
Altogether, this pace and style of working had given me something else to appreciate and understand. The way I work has not changed much - I still integrate the skills and tools I know best. But sometimes I do take different forks on the road to adapt to the medium :)
